From aspiration to impact: Alumna’s journey in Human Resource management
Posted: 22 May 2025
Ayesha Sultan from Pakistan completed a Master of Human Resource Management at Monash University in 2020, with the support of an Australia Awards Scholarship. Having worked in the human resources (HR) sector, Ayesha had witnessed firsthand how aligning individual goals with organisational objectives can foster inclusivity and enhance employee wellbeing. This insight sparked her passion for understanding the science and art of people management.
Driven by a deep interest in how strategic HR practices can reshape workplaces, Ayesha was particularly drawn to areas such as talent management, organisational behaviour, and diversity and inclusion. She recognised their crucial role in building resilient, innovative organisations in today’s global landscape. Monash University’s strong reputation in Human Resource Management education, its emphasis on practical learning and its multicultural environment led Ayesha to identify it as the ideal choice for her academic journey.
The experience of studying at Monash University was both enriching and transformative for Ayesha. The university’s world-class education, cutting-edge research and strong emphasis on real-world application helped her gain a comprehensive understanding of Human Resource Management and its practical implications.
Beyond the classroom, life in Australia added a dynamic and rewarding dimension to Ayesha’s Scholarship journey. She found a balance between academic rigour and cultural exploration by visiting iconic sites such as the Great Ocean Road, the Twelve Apostles, Bondi Beach and the Sydney Opera House during her free time. These experiences nurtured her personal growth, helping her to increase her resilience and adaptability and to build a global mindset.

The Scholarship also opened doors to professional development and networking for Ayesha. Through events and workshops in both Pakistan and Australia, she connected with leading academics, fellow scholars and, later, fellow alumni. These moments significantly boosted Ayesha’s confidence and expanded her professional connections.
Looking ahead, Ayesha plans to champion initiatives that promote inclusivity within Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority. This vision includes implementing policies that improve accessibility for individuals with disability and strengthening support for marginalised employees.
Finally, Ayesha has straightforward advice for future Scholarship applicants. “Approach the process with passion, authenticity and a strong sense of purpose,” she says. “With dedication and a clear vision to serve your community, this Scholarship can truly be a lifechanging opportunity.”
