Celebrating Australia Awards’ impact in Pakistan in 2024

Australia Awards – Pakistan has released its 2024 Year in Review, showcasing significant achievements and outcomes from last year. This document highlights the impact of Australia Awards through Scholarships, short-term training and alumni engagement.
Key highlights from the Year in Review for Pakistan include
- Twenty Pakistani Scholarship recipients completed their degrees at Australia’s world-class universities in 2024 and returned home as alumni, committed to contributing to Pakistan’s development, the highest number since 2020.
- A total of 34 scholars from Pakistan studied in Australia with the support of Australia Awards. This included two people with disability and 15 scholars who commenced their studies in 2024.
- In 2024, Pakistan scholars had valuable opportunities to engage with Indigenous Australians through Australia Awards activities, deepening their appreciation of Indigenous culture, history, and achievements.
- A total of 75 alumni benefited from alumni engagement activities, with five Pakistani alumni attending the 2024 Regional Alumni Workshop on gender equality.
- Australia Awards hosted a recognition ceremony honouring 58 Scholarship and Short Course alumni (36 women, 22 men).
- Eighteen emerging women leaders from Pakistan completed the Australia Awards Short Course on Women in Executive Leadership Development. Through the course, participants enhanced their ability to address the barriers faced by women in political and executive leadership roles in Pakistan.
Reflecting on her Australia Awards Scholarship, Abeerah Saad, who completed a Master of Curating and Cultural Leadership at the University of New South Wales in 2024, said, “The Australia Awards Scholarship opened doors to an academic world that not only celebrated my ideas but also nurtured my skills, allowing me to grow in every facet of life.”
