Celebrating Australia Awards’ impact in Pakistan in 2025

In 2025, Australia Awards continued to support Pakistan’s development priorities by equipping emerging leaders with skills, networks and leadership experience to drive meaningful change. The 2025 Year in Review highlights the impact of Australia Awards Scholarships, short-term training and alumni engagement.

Key highlights from 2025, as presented in the Year in Review for Pakistan, include:

  • Ten Pakistani scholars completed their degrees at Australian universities in 2025 and returned home as alumni to apply their learning in support of Pakistan’s development.
  • Twenty emerging leaders from Pakistan received Scholarships for study commencing in 2026.
  • Pakistani scholars participated in Indigenous engagement activities across Australia, learning about the history, culture and achievements of Australia’s First Nations peoples.
  • Twenty-two regional alumni events engaged more than 40 participants from Pakistan.
  • Australia Awards delivered short-term training opportunities to 44 Pakistanis (23 women and 21 men) in priority sectors, including water and gender equality.

Reflecting on his Australia Awards experience, Dr Atta Ullah, who completed a Master of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Melbourne in 2025, said, “The Australia Awards experience transformed my professional outlook, equipping me with global knowledge and lifelong connections to create real impact back home. Furthermore, it opened doors I never imagined, empowering me to contribute to a more sustainable and connected world.”
